Carnaxide is one of the oldest documented lands in Portugal. It was a former parish in the municipality of Oeiras, with an area of 6.63 km² and 25,911 inhabitants (2011). Its population density was 3 908.1 inhab/km². It was elevated to village on August 16, 1991. Its patron saint is São Romão. It was extinguished (aggregated) by the administrative reorganization of 2012/2013,[1] being its territory integrated in the Union of Parishes of Carnaxide and Queijas. The name Carnaxid may be a designation derived from the Arabic word "carna-axide", which means "heap of red earth", and which consequently indicates that Carnaxid was already inhabited at the time of the Muslim invasion. But the word can also derive from the Celtic term "carne-achad", which means "land of loose stones". None of the theories is proven, however they serve to confirm the existence of a population in this locality at the same time as the presence of Arabs and Celts in the "Iberian Peninsula". Linda-a-Velha is a village in the parish of Algés, Linda-a-Velha and Cruz Quebrada-Dafundo, in the municipality of Oeiras, Portugal. Mainly residential area, it has a wide network of services. Its proximity to Lisbon, Mata do Estádio Nacional and the Estoril beaches makes it a pleasant place to live, without being too far from the capital. Nestlé Portugal's headquarters are located here. As for demographic indicators, according to INE, it had a birth rate of 10.7‰ (235 live births) and a mortality rate of 7.4‰ (162 deaths) in 2001. Linda-a-Velha was high the village on August 16, 1991,[1] the parish was officially created on June 11, 1993, by dismemberment of the parish of Carnaxide.
